Board of Education

On behalf of the Great Bend Public Schools USD 428 Board of Education, we want to thank you for taking the time to learn more about your School Board. 

Great Bend USD 428 is guided by a seven-member Board of Education elected by the district's patrons. Once elected, members serve a four-year as a volunteer, members receive no compensation for their time or service. The Board of Education has many duties including:

• Governance

• Monitoring the use of financial and human resources

• Education planning and evaluation

• Appointing the chief administrator, the Superintendent of Schools

• Facilities management

The Board meets on the second Monday of each month at the Great Bend USD 428 District Offices, located at 201 S. Patton Road. During the school year, luncheon meetings are held on a rotating schedule at the school buildings. Luncheon meetings are typically held during the last week of the month over a lunch hour. 

Meetings of the Board of Education are open to the public. USD 428 operates under the laws of the State of Kansas and the policies set by the local Board of Education. The Board members encourage patrons to attend the meetings and stay informed about public school issues.
