The fundamentals are exhibited when:
- Instruction centers around both content and the rigor of state standards every day with every lesson.
- All instruction follows a research-based instructional model and uses evidence-based high-effect size teaching and learning strategies.
- Active participation is seen from staff and students during instruction.
- Collaboration in and outside of the classroom between all stakeholders.
- Each staff member is committed to growing their professional practice through professional development and feedback.
We provide literacy instruction aligned to the science of reading and assure teachers and administrators are well-trained and knowledgeable in the elements and implementation of structured literacy.
We align lessons, instruction, and materials to Kansas standards and clearly identify what students must know and be able to do. This includes interpersonal, intrapersonal, and cognitive skills in pre-K-12.
We assess students for risk and standards and use data to adjust instruction. We have a deep understanding of the purpose of each assessment and how to use the data to raise achievement.
We have a culture of high expectations in our classrooms and provide each student access to grade-level standards and content through high-quality instructional materials.
